Is language the only difference between
the TPRI and Tejas LEE?
Significant differences, beyond
the language of administration, exist between the instruments.
The most important is that the two instruments do not assess
exactly the same set of reading skills. The Tejas LEE attempts
to capture significant skills and steps in the development of
Spanish reading. Therefore, the Tejas LEE is not simply a translation
of the TPRI. Results from the Tejas LEE should only be used to
examine a student’s performance in Spanish and to plan
Spanish reading instruction. The two instruments follow similar
administration schedules to allow for both instructional planning
and the documentation of student progress
